1991 was the year when the normally dominant Marlboro McLaren Honda team received a shock! Williams Renault, when reliable, were by far the most competitive team in the championship. Ayrton Senna thoroughly dominated the early races but it soon developed into a tense two-way battle as Nigel Mansell clawed his Williams into contention.
