Biography

Mirela Rupic studied stage and costume design at the Woodbury University in San Diego. After completing her studies, Rupic worked in San Diego as assistant designer for some of the most important American costume designers such as Colleen Atwood, Michael Kaplan, Lou Eyrich, for movies directed by: Rob Marshall "Chicago", Ridley Scott "Blade Runner", David Fincher "Fight Club", Brad Falchuk "American Horror Story", Ian Brennan "Glee" and more. She also worked alongside Judianna Makovsky as assistant for "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" and as associate designer for "True Grit" directed by Coen brothers. As a costume designer for Feature and TV Films, Mirela Rupic has designed for "Meet the Spartans" directed by Jason Friedberg, "Once Upon a Time" (TV Series), "The Unloved" directed by Samantha Morton (TV Mini Series - Emmy Award nomination for best costume), "When the Lights Went Out" directed by Pat Holden (BAFTA nomination for best costume), "Hangman" directed by  Adam Mason (Saturn Award nomination), "The Returned" directed by Carlton Cuse and "Safelight" directed by Tony Aloupis. Mirela Rupic's works in the past several years include "X-Men: Days of Future Past" directed by Bryan Singer in which Mirela won the Australian Academy Award and the Prix Nova Award for best costume design. She was also nominated for the Silver Ribbon for "Prisoners" directed by Denis Villeneuve. Rupic's works also include "October Sky" directed by Joe Johnston and "New York, I Love You" directed by Fatih Akin. Among her latest movies are: "90 Minutes in Heaven" starring Hayden Christensen and Kate Bosworth directed Michael Polish, "Triple 9" directed by John Hillcoat, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Casey Affleck, "LBJ" directed by Rob Reiner, starring Jennifer Jason Leigh and Woody Harrelson, "Movie 43" directed by Elizabeth Banks, starring Dennis Quaid, Greg Kinnear and Seth MacFarlane. Her most recent movies, still in post-production, are expected to bring Mirela Rupic one step closer to the world-known costume designers.
